The Great .... Whatever

Craig Matters in July 2009 issue of Money Magazine talks about the current economy and recent past eight years as "The Great Binge", The Great Reckoning", and the "The Great Moderation".

It was too many "The Great ... Whatever" for me. Must everything be the "The Great Whatever"? Everyone seems like they have to be comparing and contrasting this current time to "The Great Depression". Otherwise, this current recession isn't worthy of their analysis. Why waste you time with "The Minor Whatever", since it isn't significantly different than some of the other minor economic events that preceded it?

I'm for "The Great Get Over It". In our culture of having to fill the 24x7 news cycle, everything has to eye grabbing and superficial to support/encourage attention deficit. Until we start to approach even half the time for "The Great Depression", is our current problems even worthy?

Maybe it is time to just downgrade to the "The Moderately Discomfort ....".
